I designed these in October of 2020, after going through several rough patches due to postpartum and the pandemic. I wanted to create an obvious nod to mental health, and something that would hopefully make people smile. It is my most popular pattern to date. â€
CHILL PILL STRESS BALL
Starting with the color you will be putting the face on, which is the right side of the pill.
R1: ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook (6)
R2: inc in each st (*6 times; 12)
R3: sc, inc (*6 times; 18)
R4: sc 2, inc (*6 times; 24)
R5: sc 3, inc (*6 times; 30)
R6-13: sc in each st (30)
Fasten off and weave in your ends. Place your 10 mm eyes between rows 6&7 and 11&12 about an inch apart. Embroider mouth.
Starting with your second color; the left side.
R1: ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook (6)
R2: inc in each st (*6 times; 12)
R3: sc, inc (*6 times; 18)
R4: sc 2, inc (*6 times; 24)
R5: sc 3, inc (*6 times; 30)
R6-12: sc in each st (30)
Do not cut, now you will begin crocheting the two pieces together
Insert your hook into the first st of row 13 on the left half of your pill, as if you were going to make a sc.
Take the other half of your pill and poke your hook through a st on the backside of the pill (opposite of the face).
Yarn over and pull through both halves to join. Sc around, pausing to stuff before you close it. *When I add stuffing, I break it up with my hands so the pill doesn't end up lumpy.
Slst into the beginning of where you joined then fasten off and cut. Weave in your yarn tail.
I love the looks of this pattern and plan to try it out for myself. Is there any chance you have come up with a pill bottle pattern? I have seen a few pill bottle cozy patterns that I may be able to adapt into an actual pill bottle but I have never had much luck with doing those sort of things.
What size yarn and hook?
